Plan A Media, a diversified publicity company specializing in music and entertainment clients, and embracing the new technological, demographic and cultural aspects of entertainment and marketing, serves a lengthening and diverse slate of creators and corporate clients. The company was launched in New York in mid-2006 by former Atlantic Records Co-President Ron Shapiro and veteran music industry publicity and media specialist Patti Conte.

Plan A Media has a special focus on addressing the publicity, positioning, and media development needs of both emerging and established artists affected by the internal upheavals of recent years within the music industry. It is also dedicated to the strategic integration of traditional media and publicity outlets with the fragmented, decentralized and highly user-driven nature of new interactive and on-line media. Plan A Media is a joint venture between Ron Shapiro Management and Consulting LLC and Conte, a three-decade veteran of music industry publicity and artist/media relations. It exists alongside the other full-service units of Shapiro’s company, which is approaching its 9th anniversary.

Widely regarded as one of the music industry's most innovative and accomplished executives, Ron Shapiro has forged his own path from record label publicity departments to the presidency of Atlantic Records to spearheading his own start-up, Ron Shapiro Management & Consulting, LLC.

In his first year of independent operation, he spawned a gold record with Country phenom Julie Roberts (Mercury Nashville), and subsequently a follow up album that debuted at #4 on the Country charts.  For eight years, he guided the career of Regina Spektor on Sire/Warner Bros. Records (her 2012 album "What We Saw From The Cheap Seats" debuted at #3 on Billboard Top 200; 2006 release "Begin To Hope" is certified gold in five countries).  He also guided the early career of RCA Nashville sensation Chris Young (RCA) and oversaw the reunion of Gospel superstars BeBe and CeCe Winans (2010-2012).  He currently guides the careers of Atlantic recording artist Melanie Martinez (Cry Baby album is RIAA certified gold and was the Hot Shot Debut at #6 on the September 5, 2015 Billboard Top 200), Aussie art pop musician Lenka, whose songs such as "The Snow," "Don't Let Me Fall," "Heart Skips A Beat", and "Everything At Once" have been the centerpiece to commercials and TV shows all around the world, R&B/Gospel icons 3 Winans Brothers (2015 winners of the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding New Artist).  He provides career direction for actor and musician Matthew James Thomas, who appeared in the title role of the original Broadway cast productions of Pippin and Spider-Man:  Turn Off The Dark.  

Shapiro is also the co-owner of Have Fun Management, established in 2013 with Civil Twilight (Wind-Up) as its flagship artist and enjoying the 2015 addition of Austin upstart Max Frost (Atlantic).  He is a co-owner of Plan A Media, a full service publicity company established in 2006, with long term clients such as Bob Sieger, BeBe Winans, and Mary Mary.  He has also served as a consultant to AOL Music.

Over the course of his Atlantic Records tenure, Shapiro played a key role in the careers of Jewel, Tori Amos, Rob Thomas & Matchbox Twenty, Kid Rock, Brandy, POD, Duncan Sheik, Sugar Ray, The Corrs, Hootie & The Blowfish, Stone Temple Pilots, and Aaliyah, all whilst working with global superstars such as Phil Collins and Led Zeppelin.

A co-founder of Plan A Media, Patti Conte is among the most respected media specialists in the music industry, with more than 30 years of experience in entertainment publicity, 24 of them at Atlantic Records, where she was Senior Vice President, Media & Artist Relations. During that time, she played a central role not only in the development of countless artists and music projects, including Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant, Kid Rock, Phil Collins, Genesis, Foreigner, Jewel, Matchbox Twenty, Rob Thomas, Stone Temple Pilots, Bette Midler, Rush, AC/DC, INXS, Sean Paul and other VP Records reggae artists, Tori Amos, Hootie and the Blowfish, Twista, Ray J, Brandy, Lil’ Kim, P.O.D., Nappy Roots, The Corrs, The Donnas, and Craig David, but also in dramatically raising the media profile of Atlantic as a company, its entire executive team, and Atlantic’s key place in American cultural heritage.

As Senior Vice President, Communications at EMI Music’s Virgin Records, Conte directed label publicity and media campaigns for Virgin Chairman Matt Serletic, Virgin Urban Music President Jermaine Dupri, and a host of platinum artists including The Rolling Stones, Korn, KT Tunstall, Gorillaz, Joss Stone, Lenny Kravitz, Ben Harper, 30 Seconds To Mars, Bubba Sparxxx, Dem Franchize Boyz, Big Boi and Purple Ribbon Records, and A Perfect Circle.
